Mission

History of the Animal Emergency Clinic

The Animal Emergency Clinic was founded in 1978 by a group of local veterinarians that wanted an overnight clinic to be available for their patients continued care or for emergencies. The AEC was the first veterinary clinic to be opened in the Omaha metro area that was exclusively focused on after hours emergency and critical care.

The Animal Emergency Clinic was located on 84th and Q streets until a fire broke out within the clinic in 1984. That fire caused tremendous damage forcing the clinic to relocate to its current home at 96th and Mockingbird that same year.

The Animal Emergency Clinic is governed by a Hospital Administrator and a Board of Directors who are local practicioners. They are elected by a group of 39 member veterinarians. Our current Medical Director, Dr. Scott Yonker, has been our MD since 1999 after having been with the AEC as a staff veterinarian since November of 1988. Our current Office Manager, Nikki C, has been with the AEC family since 1999, having started as a veterinary assistant.
